Changing Windows mouse cursors

Requirements

Before you can change your active cursor you need to have a file with a cursor on your computer. If you are downloading a cursor from a web site, remember into which folder was the cursor saved.

Cursor files have .cur or .ani extensions.

How to change cursor

Click on Start, locate "Control Panel" and open it by clicking on it. Open the "Mouse" panel by double-clicking it (if you cannot see the panel, switch to "classic view". A new window opens. You can now close the "Control Panel" window.

Click on the "Pointers" tab in the upper part of the window. This tab displays previews of mouse cursors used in various situations. For example, when the system is working or when you are changing size of a window. To change a pointer (the normal arrow), select the first line and click on "Browse". Then locate your cursor, select it and click "Open". You can now see preview of the selected cursor. Accept the changes by clicking on the "OK" button and the window is automatically closed.
